Lolly denies dice of death

Lolly Jackson, owner of Teazers strip club, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly driving 122km/h in an 80km/h zone while travelling from an accident scene to Netcare Sunninghill hospital.
"I tried to be a good Samaritan, and now again I'm in the shit," a despondent Jackson said on Sunday.
He was caught at about 08:00, at the corner of Main and Zinnia Road, north of Johannesburg, in his black and green Pagani Zonda sports car.
According to Jackson, he was driving "about 100/110km/h" shortly after 06:00 when a man on a motorbike overtook him on Main Road. It looked like the front wheel of the motorbike lifted, the driver stepped on the back brake and lost control.
The man apparently had his leg ripped off when he hit a pole, after which the motorbike went through an electric fence.
'Not racing'
Jackson stopped at the scene and called the emergency services. He found the seriously injured man's cellphone, and called his wife. Her number was stored as the ICE [In case of Emergency] number. He supported her when she arrived at the scene.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the man (in his 30s) was critically injured and had to be hooked up to a ventilator. He later died in hospital.
Jackson was apparently on his way to the hospital, to get more information about the man, when he was caught for speeding.
He was later released on R500 bail.
On Sunday, Jackson denied the rumour that he and the motorcyclist had been racing against one another. According to him, if that was the case, he would not have been able to stop and turn around to help the man so quickly.
According to Jackson, who regularly finds himself at the centre of controversy, he tried to do a good deed, and "now I'm in the shit again".
Speeding arrests
Metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said 16 people were arrested on Sunday at the same place due to speeding. The biggest speedster was driving a blue Volkswagen Polo at 150km/h.
Before, speedsters were only arrested when they transgressed the speed limit by more than 60km/h, but since the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) was established, it's now 40km/h.
According to Moses Maphakela, Jackson will appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court next Tuesday to face charges of reckless and negligent driving.
Jackson had to pay R20 000 when he was arrested in July 2005, after he'd been driving 249km/h in a Lamborghini through a speed trap on the N3 South in Edenvale on the East Rand.

Ford will build the Focus from late 2010 in Europe and North America while production in Asia, Africa and South America will follow shortly thereafter. Global sales for both sedan and hatchback variants start in 2011. Incidentally a full battery-electric vehicle (BEV) to be manufactured at the Michigan Assembly Complex, is also planned for a 2011 North American debut.
"The new Ford Focus is a clear demonstration that our ONE Ford strategy is providing global consumers with great products that harness the best of Ford Motor Company," said Alan Mulally, Ford's president and CEO. "The efficiencies generated by our new global C-car platform will enable us to provide Ford Focus customers with an affordable product offering quality, fuel efficiency, safety and technology beyond their expectations."
The company's "kinetic design" philosophy is evident in the use of sleek lines and a very athletic stance. The interior is also melded into this theme with its cockpit-style look and the centre console wrapped around the driver.
Expectedly a range of engines will be available, including a new cleaner yet more powerful 2.0-litre gas engine for the North American market. It will be mated with Ford's 6-speed double-clutch PowerShift automatic transmission.
Some of the technologies found in the new Focus include a new generation SYNC package, Bluetooth connectivity, an 8-inch touch screen, a rear camera and a semi-automatic parking assist system.
"We believe the new Ford Focus will provide consumers with an unmatched driving experience, together with an unrivaled ownership experience," said Jim Farley, Ford group vice president, Global Marketing. "The Focus brand always has been very special to Ford, and this new global model shows our commitment to developing another generation of exciting and appealing cars."
