Lorinser E-Class Coupe Styling Kit Revealed
http://www.maxauto.co.za/CntView.aspx?CatID=26&CntID=1141
German Mercedes tuners Lorinser have released details and a new set of images for the E-Class coupe. The aero kit is a bit different than what the company had indicated back in April with initial design sketches.
Amongst the changes are a new grille with one slit, instead of two, and a monocolor lower front bumper. Side sills have been changed, along with rounder side mirrors. An unexpected spoiler now hangs over the rear window. At the same time, a rear bumper has a section in it that is now squared, not rounded, incorporating quad tailpipes and the rear diffuser.
Also included in the package is a set of LED daytime runners, and 20-inch one-piece alloy wheels. New suspension springs lower the car by 30-mm, but they are adjustable. Inside, aluminum pedals and leather-lined floor mats can be found.
Lorinser is also working on re-tuning the engine, but the performance upgrade is not yet available. However, if the 330 km/h speedo is any indicator, the car could be capable of great things.
The Lorinser Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe aero kit will be available soon.

MINI Countryman Official Photos Leaked
http://www.maxauto.co.za/CntView.aspx?CatID=26&CntID=1142
Seen in the photos is the Cooper S version of the Countryman. Emblazoned with the "All4" all-wheel-drive badge, the car does not appear to be as tall as the MINI Beachcomber concept shown in Detroit. As expected, it does have the same headlights, with foglamps in a similar position. The Pepper White vehicle with a black roof shows off an all-new grille and front bumper, as well as previously-unseen blacked-out wheels. The car maintains three windows on each side of the vehicle, like the Crossover concept. However, the taillamps and hatchback shape are more akin to the Cooper. Dual exhaust pipes are still on either side of the vehicle, but are no longer completely surrounded by the bumper.
Inside, the car has a very similar design to the rest of the MINI lineup. The oversized speedo is mounted flush in the middle of the dash. A panel of six toggle switches is a bit below that, with another row of switches mounted at the rear mirror. The car's white headliner contrasts against the black seats nicely, but we could have done without the teal door inserts.
The MINI R60 will hit the market by the end of the year. Despite the official reveal taking place in Geneva at March, we expect more information to come out now that official photos have been leaked.

Opel Meriva Reveals Interior
http://www.maxauto.co.za/CntView.aspx?CatID=26&CntID=1143
While it's not overly attractive, Opel says the "warm and inviting cabin ambience is created by the wraparound wing-shaped instrument panel. The forward-leaning center stack contributes to this and adds a notion of sportiness." Trim levels include Essentia (with a Jet Black wing fascia and upholstery), Enjoy (which comes in Jet Black, Red Curry or Cocoa/light Cocoa), and the range-topping Cosmo which comes with black Morrocana embossed seat upholstery.
Elsewhere in the cabin, Opel added a FlexRail system which allows owners to choose from a variety of modular storage bins and components. The company also revised the FlexSpace system (fold-down rear seats which can slide forward and backwards to improve legroom or storage capacity) to be more intuitive thanks to "an easy, one-step motion when sliding the rear seat cushions or lowering the seatbacks." For two-wheel enthusiasts, Opel offers a FlexFix bicycle carrier. It "slides in and out of the rear bumper like a drawer, making bicycle transportation easy and convenient." Using this system, two bicycles can be safely transported, with no special tools or fittings. When not in use, the FlexFix bicycle carrier slides back into the Meriva's rear bumper.
To further improve practicality, the Meriva features FlexDoors. Originally shown on the Meriva Concept, the rear-hinged FlexDoors "swing open towards the back of the car at an angle of nearly 90 degrees, vastly improving the ease with which occupants enter and leave the cabin. Rather than having to step back, or to one side, as one would using a normal front-hinged door, the FlexDoor allows unimpeded forward access/egress to and from the cabin, enhanced further by the Meriva's exceptionally high roof line."
As we have previously reported, the 2011 Meriva will be available with six turbocharged engines with outputs ranging from 55 to 103 kW. On average, the engines will have a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency and 25 g/km reduction in CO2 emissions.

Honda HSV-010 GT Officially Unleashed
http://www.maxauto.co.za/CntView.aspx?CatID=26&CntID=1144
The Honda HSV-010 GT will use a 3.4-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine producing "368 or more" kilowatt and "392 or more" Nm of torque, according to a press release.
The Honda Sports Velocity car will race in the GT500 class of the Super GT Series in place of the NSX. The previous model helped Daisuke Ito and Ralph Firman take the 2007 Drivers' Championship, and led Autobacs Racing Team Aguri to the 2007 Teams' Championship.
At 4.675 x 2.000 meters, the new race car is 65 mm longer and 100 mm wider than the outgoing model. Height of the new Honda has not been disclosed. Wheelbase is 170 mm longer at 2.7 meters.
Had Honda decided to continue production of the Honda/Acura NSX, the HSV-010 GT would have been the next-generation model. However, the NSX was cancelled by Honda in an effort by the company to focus on mass-produced models instead of those manufactured in limited numbers.
Honda's newest car will get its first test at the Suzuka Circuit on March 21.

AMG biturbo V12 for new Pagani
http://www.maxauto.co.za/CntView.aspx?CatID=26&CntID=1145
Revered supercar maker, Horacio Pagani, has alluded to what the legendary Zonda’s successor will be like.
In an online interview with a publication in his native Argentina, Pagani revealed a few of the fundamental design parameters which should constitute the forthcoming C9.
Biturbo V12
For starters, the new supecar from Pagani will be assembled in a far larger and more sophisticated facility in Modena - enabling annual volumes of around 40 units. This production capacity far exceeds anything possible during the Zonda era.
Powering the C9 will be another large capacity AMG sourced engine. The company’s 6l bitubo V12 is the choice candidate.
Sporting the necessary tweaks it should trim 515kW (60kW more than in the SL65 'Black') and factor in a regulated 1 000Nm of peak rotational force.
Advanced construction
From a design perspective the C9 will take many cues from the aviation industry, including the design’s surfacing (aerodynamics) and the car’s exotic carbon-titanium chassis.
According to Pagani the new C9 has been designed as an all-new car form the ground up. As such, it features 3 770 new components, including bespoke Pirelli tyres - specially designed solely for use on the new Pagani.
The C9 is expected to debut at the Paris motor show later this year in October.
Beyond all the new design detail promises perhaps the most impressive aspect of the new Pagani C9 is its ability to conform to all global market emission standards – even California’s extraordinarily strict set of emission controls.
