Porsche Tequipment has unveiled four new options for the 911.

First off, Porsche offers 19-inch Sport Classic wheels which mimic the legendary Fuchs rims. They feature a five-spoke design with the "rim star painted black, the wheel hump in gloss-lathed finish, and the Porsche logo in color." Production will be limited to 250 units.

Secondly, the company offers an Aerokit Cup package for the current 911. Inspired by the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the body kit features a new front apron, a revised rear fascia, a front spoiler lip, and a massive rear wing.

The final exterior accessory is the Sport Design front apron. The front apron features a spoiler lip and revised air intakes.

Last but not least, Porsche will offer a three-spoke sports steering wheel for models with the PDK transmission. It boasts gearshift paddles, leather upholstery, and metal accents. The steering wheel will be available for the 911, Boxster, Cayman, Panamera and 2011 Cayenne.

Fuel industry wary of strike

The SA Petroleum Industry Association (Sapia) is closely monitoring the impact of the Transnet strike, it said on Monday.

"Sapia has noted with concern reports that the SA Transport and Allied Workers' Union (Satawu) is embarking on a strike against Transnet from today [Monday]," the association said in a statement.

Sapia said it had spoken to its members about the strike and all had confirmed that appropriate contingency plans were in place to mitigate against possible fuel supply disruptions.

Sapia's members are BP Southern Africa, Chevron South Africa, Engen Petroleum, PetroSA, Sasol, Shell SA, and Total SA.

"While the full impact of the strike remains unclear, Sapia members will be closely monitoring the situation and endeavour to limit any inconvenience to the public," it said.

The Transnet strike began at 6am on Monday with about 18 000 Satawu members expected to down tools, according to the union.

Threats of a strike have been building for weeks as Satawu and another union, the United Transport and Allied Trade Union (Utatu), demanded a 15% across the board pay increase.

Transnet initially offered 8%, but raised its offer to 11%.

Satawu rejected this, and opted to strike. Utatu was still consulting its members and expected an answer by Tuesday.

The company employs 50 000 people, 87% of whom are unionised. Utatu has 22 000 members working there.
